Short BioResearch Director at NCSR "Demokritos", and head of the Software and Knowledge Engineering Laboratory of the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications. His research interests are in the areas of Language and Knowledge Engineering, as applied to content analysis, natural language interfaces, ontology engineering, personalization. He did his MSc thesis at the University of London (Queen Mary & Westfield College), on the use of natural language processing methods and techniques for the development of a natural language interface to a geographic database. In his PhD thesis, at the University of Athens , he worked on knowledge acquisition and multilingual natural language generation. During his post-doc at NCSR "Demokritos", he worked on adaptive and multilingual information extraction. This work involved the exploitation of machine learning techniques for the customisation of information extraction technology to new domains, as well as the exploitation of user modeling techniques for the customisation of information according to the users' interests. |
